Mulled cider

1 litre organic BC apple cider (or local cider of choice)
2 tablespoons brown sugar
8 whole cloves
4 whole allspice berries
2 three-inch cinnamon sticks
peel of one mandarin orange, removed in a continuous strip

Combine ingredients in saucepan and bring just to boiling point. Turn off and let stand, covered, for one hour. Serve hot.
